Notes:
- Acts is the bridge of the NT—it connects the gospels and epistles
- Provides the bulk of our knowledge about the first century church
- Paul’s travels and ministry would have major gaps otherwise
From Acts 1:10-11, what do we know about Jesus’ second coming?
- Acts 1:9-11—he will return as he left
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18—descend, shout, air
- 1 Thessalonians 5:2—like a thief
- Revelation 1:7—he is coming with the clouds and all will see him
- “Note the expression in Acts 1:11 ‘in like manner’ or ‘in the same way’—this is hard evidence for the fact that the second coming of the Lord will not be a mere providential coming, such as occurred in AD 70 when the Lord came in judgment upon Jerusalem.”
